People with Disabilities

The Police Authority always ensures that a full accessibility audit is carried out before any consultation event takes place and we will always provide any necessary support requested from attendees such as signers or a loop system. Whilst this is standard practice at every event so that everyone who wants to come along can attend, we recognise the importance of speaking specifically to those people with disabilities so that we can gain an understanding of what their policing priorities are. Our commitment to ensuring the disabled community has equal access to all of our services is laid out in the Authority's Equality Schemes page.

What have we done?

The Authority works with organisations such as Merseyside Disability Federation and the Stroke Association to hold focus groups for people with disabilities in environments where they feel safe and supported. The Authority has also recently engaged with Palmerston School in Liverpool to consult with young people with disabilities and their teachers.

If you would like to give us your thoughts on local policing we will be available between 12 noon and 2pm at the Rainey Day Family Fun Day on Sunday 26th June, held at the King George V Leisure Sports Complex, Longview Lane, Huyton.

At our most recent events, the community has told us thier policing priorities are:

Tackling anti-social behaviour
Traffic issues
More training for police on dealing with people with disabilities.

If you disagree with these priorities you can fill in our online survey and let us know your thoughts.
