A Healthy Audit
The Authority has received its Annual Audit Letter 2006/07.
Improvements have been identified in key areas, and an overall score of 3 out of 4 in the Police Use of Resources Evaluation (PURE) shows an improvement on last years 2 out of 4.
The evaluation involves an assessment of the Authority's arrangements in five areas and scores each area from 1-4 (1 = inadequate performance, 2 = adequate performance, 3 = performing well and 4 = performing strongly).

The letter also stated:
"the Authority has proper arrangements in place to secure economy, efficiency and effectiveness in the use of resources."
Authority Chairman, Councillor William Weightman, concluded:
"Our relationship with the Audit Commission has greatly improved and they are now a critical friend. Thanks and credit should go to the Treasurer to the Authority and his team for our healthy situation."
