Annual Report

Welcome to the 2007-08 Annual Report for Merseyside Police Authority.

During 2007-08 we continued to ensure that there is an efficient and effective police force in Merseyside. Overall crime fell by 18% last year. This meant there were 28,000 fewer crime victims than the year before. During the last two years, we have seen over 48,000 fewer crimes and victims. We have continued to work with partners and local communities to deter crime.

Your views on local policing are important to us. During the year we held over 40 events across Merseyside and have spoken to more than 4,500 people to find out what policing issues are important to you. In addition, over 3,500 people responded to the questionnaire in our Local Policing Plan Summary. This continues to influence the way we shape the police service, and has led directly to investment in additional police officers.

Details of our performance for the last year, our members, and the members allowances can be found using the links below. A report on the evaluation of our engagement methods can also be read.
