Committee Meetings
The Authority exists to ensure the people of Merseyside receive an effective and efficient service from its police force. We work closely with the Chief Constable to ensure this is achieved. We also provide the force with the resources to do its job and hold the Chief Constable to account.
Decisions are made through a traditional committee system and Authority policy is formally adopted by the full Authority in its meetings.
The Authority appoints committees to undertake most of its work and these meetings are generally open to the public to attend, but not to take part or speak unless specifically invited to do so. Meetings generally follow a six weekly cycle which culminates in a meeting of the Authority. The committee cycle and Terms of Reference can be seen in the Committee Structure page
