Community Engagement Workshop

Across Merseyside there are a variety of mechanisms in place by various partners to undertake effective community engagement. All these initiatives try to influence improvements in confidence around community safety issues. However, at times some work can appear isolated and results are not always fully shared between all partners.

Recently, Merseyside Police Authority, undertook a review to determine the methods and frequency of engagement and consultation carried out by partner agencies including, Merseyside Police, Safer Knowsley Partnership, Liverpool Citysafe, Sefton Safer and Stronger Communities Partnership, St Helens and Wirral Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships.

To learn from the review the Authority held a Community Engagement Workshop in May 2009 and published a manual of Community Engagement best practice. All partners received copies on the day, and further copies can be supplied on request.

As part of the Workshop a presentation on Effective Partnership Working was given by Chaz Akoshile, of the Home Office Crime and Policing Group. The link below can be used to view the Hallmarks of Effective Partnership case studies that Chaz's presentation made reference to.
