Local Confidence Survey

The Government has set all police forces a target to raise public confidence that the police and local council are dealing with the anti-social behaviour and crime issues that matter locally.

The figures below relate to the number of people surveyed who answered "Strongly agree" or "Tend to agree" with the following statement:

"The police and local council are dealing with the anti-social behaviour and crime issues that matter in this area".

  • Wirral - 62.6%
  • Sefton - 61.1%
  • Knowsley - 68.4%
  • St Helens - 66.0%
  • Liverpool North - 60.9%
  • Liverpool South - 60.7%
  • Liverpool CDRP - 60.8%

Note: This is the result of a telephone survey that was conducted across Merseyside in July and August 2009 and December 2009 and January 2010.

The survey is based on a quota sample of people in the local area. The use of a quota sample seeks to ensure the results are broadly representative of the local population. Quota samples may inadvertently introduce unknown sources of statistical bias.
